Cá Gỗ Haldensleben
Our Story

The Story Behind Our Name

"Cá Gỗ" — the wooden fish — is an old symbol from Nghệ An, in the heart of Vietnam. According to legend, a young scholar once lived there in great poverty. For his meals, he often had nothing more than rice and a little fish sauce. But instead of losing hope, he carved a fish out of wood, placed it beside his plate, and imagined having a full meal in front of him.

For us, "Cá Gỗ" is more than just a name. It is a mindset: to keep going, even when things get difficult; to remain grateful, even when the beginning is small; and to believe that something beautiful can grow from the simplest things. With our restaurant, we carry this spirit forward — through good food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a genuine feeling of connection.

Cá Gỗ is a beautiful reminder that perseverance, warmth, and locality are what make life's journey truly meaningful.
